Stephen is originally a 50’s-era British baby boomer, the product of joyous survivors of the war that devastated Britain. The Verbena were involved in the war to some extent. Stephen’s Awakening was not foretold, but was no surprise either; his ancestors’ presence in the Tor circle is well documented.
Raised in the presence of, and with the awareness of magick, Stephen takes great pride in using the Old Ways of his forebears, and is a member of the Gardeners of the Tree. He honors them by walking the mythic threads, the trails they’ve blazed. Although he’s involved with Juliet, he’s not her first love, and perhaps not her last. He accepts this, however, and doesn’t worry about it. Stephen enjoys his life and love, and the satisfaction of his craft. Although some might see this as a personal failing or flaw to have settled so, it is an essential part of his nature.
Despite the pride in his heritage, though, Stephen is naturally tolerant, patient and steady — a rock or anchor for the chantry, a teacher for the next generation. This may be why he and Juliet get along so well; she is open-minded, while he is just mellow (if a bit cool).
As a pattern mage and crafter, Stephen works with clay, iron and wood, working with his hands and with fire. When the Tor witches learned of the Primium wreckage that Joshua had left stored in their ship, they eventually convinced him to give up the metal so that it could be crafted into something new. Stephen participated in the crafting, working with a master of Prime from the Celestial Chorus; the armor, and the Primium artifact spear-shaft they built, bear the marks of both Traditions.
Image: Stephen looks closer to 40 than his real age, around 50. He chalks it up to healthy living, and does not spend much time working to counter the natural aging process. Although his mundane family (Cavendish) held some power and influence, he never bothered. He prefers the affectations of an old-style craftsman, shabby work clothes included, but will play the proper druid when it’s called for.
Stephen takes the North, or earth corner; his color is brown, and he represents the Knight of Pentacles.
